Abstract

This collection consists of spatial transcriptomic profiling datasets exhibited in "Spatial mapping and senolytic targeting of senescent and disease-associated microglia in aged mouse brain white matter", Carver et al., 2026, Nature Aging. The brain experiences age-associated molecular, structural, and functional changes that coincide with greater incidence of neurological disease. Senescent and inflammatory cells may contribute to the maladaptive remodeling and reprogramming of aging brain parenchyma and are potential mediators of age-dependent brain dysfunction. To detect senescent cells and their gene signatures with preserved spatial context, we employed CosMx spatial molecular imaging (SMI) transcriptomics and GeoMx digital spatial profiling (DSP) to analyze the distribution and biological heterogeneity of cell populations in young and aged mouse brain tissue slices.
