Privacy Policy

How AgingNexus collects, uses, and retains data. Last updated 2026-05-29 MST.

What we collect

Account data you provide (name, email, optional handle/bio). For any contribution or comment — even one you choose to display anonymously — we record your account, IP address, browser/user-agent, and approximate location (country, region, city, timezone derived from your IP). We log search/bot hits for analytics, and AI usage (tokens, cost) for billing. An essential session cookie keeps you signed in.

Why we collect it (legal basis)

To operate the service (contract), to keep an accurate and accountable public record, to prevent abuse, and to comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests. We do not sell your data or run third-party advertising/tracking.

Anonymous display vs. backend records

Choosing "display anonymously" hides your identity from the public. It does not erase the backend record: your real account and origin data are retained for legal compliance and are accessible only to administrators and where legally required.

Retention

Contribution/comment legal-capture records (account, IP, user-agent, location) are retained indefinitely as part of the permanent record and for legal accountability. Other data is kept as long as your account is active.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR/CCPA) you may request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal data, and may object to certain processing. Some records (e.g. legal-capture audit data tied to published contributions) may be retained where we have a legal basis to do so. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Security & sharing

Sensitive uploads are stored privately and served only via authenticated routes. We share data only with service providers who help us operate (hosting, email, AI inference) and where legally required.
