Abstract

Objective To investigate the role of AGEs in the pathogenesis of diabetic osteoporosis and the effect of ASP's intervention combineing with the changes of bone mineral density,bio-mechanical indicators and markers of bone metabolism. Methods Thirty-six healthy male SD rats with twelve-weeks-old were randomly divided into the control(n=8) and the STZ-induced diabetic groups(n=28).After the success of induction. The rats was randomly divided into intervention group(DM n=14),Aspirin intervention group(ASA n=14).All rats were sacrificed sixteen weeks after setting up model successfully.Measured the BMD of left femur, and AGEs content of the right tibia. The L3 vertebral body for biomechanical testing. Results There was a significantly negatively correlation between AGEs from BMD and Bone biomechanics.Compared with the control group N and ASP,the changes of Bone biomechanical and BMD were significant(P 0.01 or P 0.05).Conclusion AGEs involved in the occurrence and development of osteoporosis in diabetic rats.Aspirin has some intervention effect on the bone metabolism disorder of Diabetic rats.
