Abstract

Objective:To study the extending longevity effect and anti-senescence(definition) molecular mechanism of resveratrol. Method:The lifespan assay was carried out on model organism Caenorhabditis elegans(C. elegans)which dieted resveratrol with final concentration 50mg/L and 100mg/L under normal culture conditions(25℃)and under heat stress(35℃),respectively. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR was used to analyze the expression of aging-associated genes such as daf-16,sod-3 and hsp-16. 2. Result:Under the two kinds of culture conditions the C. elegans fed resveratrol was shown to extend lifespan compared to the control without resveratrol uptake. Furthermore, the resveratrol with final concentration 100mg/L had more obvious longevity-extending effect. The expression of aging-associated genes was up-regulated. Conclusion:The results suggested that resveratrol significantly extended the lifespan of C. elegans through up-regulating some genes’ expression such as daf-16,sod-3 and hsp-16. 2 which would provide important reference for antiaging research of resveratrol.
