Abstract
Over the past two decades, the field of cellular reprogramming and rejuvenation has undergone remarkable advances. Novel reprogramming modalities and technologies have been developed to improve the efficiency and safety of cellular reprogramming while expanding its potential for clinical translation. Among these approaches, partial reprogramming(definition) based on epigenetic rejuvenation has emerged as a promising regenerative strategy that can restore aspects of youthful cellular function without a complete loss of cellular identity. Preclinical studies demonstrate that controlled epigenetic rejuvenation can enhance tissue repair, improve regenerative capacity, and promote functional recovery across multiple organ systems. In this short review, we provide an overview of current partial reprogramming approaches and their potential therapeutic applications in regenerative medicine, with a particular focus on evidence from preclinical studies. We also discuss key translational challenges, including safety considerations, delivery optimization, and biomarker development, that must be addressed before clinical implementation. Looking ahead, advances in epigenetic rejuvenation may contribute to the development of personalized regenerative therapies aimed at preserving tissue function, enhancing healthy longevity, and transforming the future of regenerative medicine.
