Abstract

The study of the role of central aortic pressure and vascular rigidity in the patients with arte- rial hypertension is an exciting prospect both from scientific and practical points of view. In the survey presented, the mechanisms of the increased arterial stiffness in the patients with arterial hypertension and the clinical data on the evaluation of the interaction between central aortic pressure and the risk of complications in cardiovascular pathology are considered. The evaluation of central blood pressure offers new challenges and additional opportunities for risk stratification for development of cardiovascular complications in young and middle-aged patients, as well as for the evaluation of the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.
